Cavity Wall Insulation

The Course is designed to provide Cavity & Loft Insulation Installers and their supervisors with the knowledge to deal with issues arising from Gas Appliance, flues and ventilation etc. during the course of their work.

The course objectives are to give the candidate: -

  • A basic understanding of the Combustion Process.
  • Awareness and consequence of and risks of personal injury from incomplete combustion, including recognising symptoms of Carbon Dioxide poisoning.
  • Identify different types of combustible fuel appliances and categorise them and their associated risk.
  • Identify and determine the purpose of different types of ventilators.
  • Identify and determine the purpose of different types of flues used with combustible appliances.
  • Conduct a simple smoke test on a combustible appliance to determine whether spillage is taking place.
  • Carry out pre and post installation checks, record findings and take further action to ensure safety is maintained.
  • Gain an understanding of the legislation affecting their work and the responsibilities it imposes.
  • Understand the role of a Carbon Monoxide Detector.
  • Be able to take ‘Make Safe’ action where a dangerous or potentially dangerous situation is recognised.
